The Village of Geneseo has a curb-side brush pickup system that runs every other month. In order to address the problem of residents accumulating debris at other intervals, a Lend-a-Truck program was introduced. The Village now allows a dump truck to remain overnight at a residence, so that the resident can load the truck with brush and Village removes the truck the following morning.

The program was developed to allow residents to dispose of yard debris as it accumulates and to make use of Village trucks during non-working hours. The Lend-a-Truck program has provided greater service to residents at no cost by offering use of a truck on an as-needed basis. Residents can dispose of yard debris convenient to their schedule, rather than waiting for the alternate-month schedule of the Village. By offering a program which decreases the amount of yard debris placed curbside for the Village to pick up, the Village benefits by having to spend less time devoted to "brush days
