While Lake George Village is the hub of an entire resort area, there was no facility convenient to visitors to obtain information on events, history attractions and businesses. The Village also lacked adequate restroom facilities and the ability to explain to the public the value of the lake and the environment.

As a result, the Lake George Visitor Center was created. It contains three display rooms, a porch, walk-up information window, two large bathrooms, a historical mural and model of the lake. There are six interactive displays, two continuous DVD presentations of current events and history, as well as a large kiosk featuring each town in Warren County. Large brochure racks are available for all participants. The Visitor Center has given businesses an opportunity to publicize their property, and all towns and cities in Warren County an opportunity to display their assets and history. It also provides educational opportunities to students and environmental groups with interactive displays.
