Issues in Focus

curbl

In November 2014, NYCOM released the first in a series of policy briefs -- referred to as "Issues in Focus" -- for the purpose of highlighting the causes of and solutions to specific challenges facing New York's cities and villages. In a concise yet thorough fashion, the Issues in Focus reports are intended to serve as an advocacy tool for our members as they communicate with their constituents, the Governor, state legislators and the media.

As more and more pressure is being placed on municipalities to share services and consolidate functions, the following documents contain information that is intended to assist you in these efforts.

Let NY Work

LetNYWorkAgendaHandout12-1

NYCOM has been working with a coalition of groups united in the pursuit of significant mandate relief - Let New York Work: A Common Agenda for the Common Good. Our historic coalition of eleven prominent business, local government and educational organizations has launched a new, comprehensive initiative to advance significant mandate relief. We have already been successful in achieving long-term pension reform and will now continue to pursue our other five agenda items. For additional information on the coalition and our agenda, please click HERE.  Let NY Work also supports a ban on future unfunded mandates through our No New Mandates initiative.
