NYCOM’s three-hour Village Elections Workshop offers an in-depth review of the village elections process. The workshop will cover the village clerk’s duties as the chief election officer, the party and the independent body nominating processes, challenges to nominations, voter registration, processing absentee ballot applications, handling candidate and voter qualifications and residency issues, ballot preparation, pre-election day preparation, election inspector appointment and training, poll watchers, election day procedures, dealing with voters not on the registration list, canvassing the vote, run-off elections, and the clerk’s post-election responsibilities.

This workshop is eligible for three hours of CLE credit in the Area of Professional Practice. This CLE Course is appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys and is a permissible format for newly admitted attorneys.T his CLE course does not contain new content for 2017 and is considered a “repeat” course for purposes of the NYS CLE Board's “no repeat” rule. The Village Elections Webinar Series is a two-part training session divided into two 1-hour segments about the village elections process. Part I will be held on Tuesday, December 12th and Part II will be held on Thursday, December 14th. The Webinars will cover the most common village election issues including, the village clerk’s duties, the independent nominating process, election day preparation, absentee ballot voting, election day procedures, and canvassing the vote. Due to time constraints, the Village Elections Webinar will cover only a portion of the information that will be presented at the regional workshop.
Webinars are eligible for one hour of CLE credit in the Area of Professional Practice. Attorneys wishing to obtain one hour of CLE credit for participating in this webinar MUST PRE-REGISTER. This CLE Course is appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys and is a permissible format for newly admitted attorneys.
